Love knows no age. The proof? Mark Ernestus, the pioneer of the Berlin techno scene, was fully 40 years-old when he fell head-over-heels for the urban version of the Senegalese “mbalax” music known as “ndagga”. His new love inspired him to round up the finest percussionists in Senegal and Gambia, to create the Ndagga Rhythm Force. He produced their Yermande album, recorded between Dakar and Berlin, before the new clan hit the road. They have only one goal: to introduce as many people as possible to this hidden musical treasure of West Africa which, creatively blended with techno, becomes infused with a unique poignancy.
